Eventhough Wardha came into prominence in the modern history of India on account of long stay of two great persons, Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave,In the pre-Independence era, the rural areas of wardha district was miles away from the education facilities . Late Bapuraoji Deshmukh, The Founder president of this institution, understood the need of hour. He was aware that there was no other way than education to the masses for the development of Wardha District. With his noble view in mind he founded ‘ Yeshwant Gramin Shiksha Sanstha’ in 1959 to provide education to the underprivileged masses.
Yeshwant Gramin Shikshan Sanstha never look back since then and made progress by leaps and bounds during the following years. At present there are 22 Schools, 3 Hostels, 10 Junior Colleges, 3 Senior Colleges & 1 Engineering College run by this institution. It is important to note that the Govt. of Maharashtra honoured Yeshwant Gramin Shikshan sanstha by conferring upon it the Best Educational Institute Award.
Yeshwant Mahavidyalaya, Wardha was established on 20th June 1960 and was inaugurated on 8th Sept. 1960 at the hands of Late. Yeshwantrao Chavan the chief minister of Maharashra. Yeshwant Mahavidyalaya, Wardha is Affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. Our College is a well reputed institution and oldest College of Vidarbha region. Our College provides Under Graduate and Post – Graduate courses in the Faculty of Arts, commerce, Science, Home Science and Law. The college is an accredited institution by NAAC having B Grade. Many activities are conducted for the overall development of students through Sports, NCC, Cultural and Extension activities.
Yeshwant Rural Education Society (Yeshwant Gramin Shikshan Sanstha) was founded with an objective to cater to the needs of rural area population in terms of educational facilities especially in remote villages of Wardha District.
The concept of society was conceived by Shri Bapuraoji Deshmukh, a close associate and a true follower of Mahatma Gandhi and Ex-Member of Parliament.He established this Society with a firm belief that Teaching is a Mission and not a Profession!
The Yeshwant Rural Education Society is registered on 14-09-1959 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with Registration Number E 75/59 and registered on 13-07-1961 under Bombay Public Trust Act.
Envisaging education in the right perspective Bapuraoji Deshmukh, established many schools and colleges under the aegis of Yeshwant Rural Education Society to make the education within the reach of the poorest of the poor.
